VM95

Having chosen Windows as the operating system ensures easy interfacing with recent product innovation especially in video peripherals units and in the telecommunication sphere...

The main program runs in XP and is known as VM95. It was written by our American partner EVS and is continuously updated and equipped with new options to adapt it to the most modern technology. Running in the Windows environment has allowed VM95 to incorporate and use recently introduced technology, both in the digital imaging field (Olympus cameras) and in the communications field (DSL, routers modems TCP/IP). Initially the VM95 was developed as a simple tool in image manipulation, and is the result of 12 years of work, and in time acquired many options such as creation of panoramic, image processing, pan/tilt pointing system, upload via internet and many others.

Some unique features are:
-Interfaces with an Olympus Digital Cameras up to 8 Megapixels resolution
- Pointing system using pan/tilt with great accuracy and zoom availability either remote or planned
- Simultaneous control of up to 4 systems
- Storage of partial or total images on an hard disk or remote
- Rotating, cropping and labeling images to get perfect results
- Automatic creations of photographic slides for building up a gallery
- Support for a dual cameras on the pan tilt, one video and one digital camera
- Windshield wiper/spray system supported in both manual and program control
- Remote control for authorized users: pan, tilt, zoom, continuous record mode
- Possibility to take photographs remotely in real time
- Automatic creation of panoramic photographs
-Recall of other Information from various web sites (example metereological informations)
- Long digital exposure for images taken in poor light conditions
- Automatic analysis of software problems with the possibility of reboot the system

  • Additional Standard Features Supported include:
    - Image acquisition at regular intervals
    - Automatic labeling of collected images (date, time, place..)
    - Upload on ftp site of the collected images
    - Incorporates low light video camera for night time observation
    - Continuous recording 24/7 for video surveillance uses

A reason thet makes the VM95 software very powerful is the possibility to program all the activities. The programming for taking photograph automatically can be made simply even the operator and includes very many options such as the click and the successive upload of a single scene, or build up of a panoramic made up of up to 5 photos and upload them on to up to ten ftp sites, and the presentation of a slide show with multiple scene. This program works through a complete graphic interface with "help" function to facilitate beginners. All the initial configurations are set by our technicians following the directive and needs of the customer at installation, but can be modified later using the instruction manual or by the information acquired through short training course that we give our new customers. Normally, VM95 works automatically aound the clock the chosen programmed functions, but at any time the autorized user can assume the control remotely, to carry out any required task if allowed by the proggramming. It is also possible to connect to the stations for observation purposes only without interfering with the programmed tasks. This type of remote control is allowed only to authorized users with username and password. Our systems work with narrow band and a 56K modem, but the best results are obtained using broadband so that information and images can be transmitted via internet at great speed. One of the most important aspects of the ‘final products’ of our system is the Web page where your images will be visible. To give you an idea have a look at the links on our web site.

VM95 in Automatic Mode (Web Cam Mode)

User's Interface

The SVM systems have 2 fundamental operation modes: Web Cam Mode, and Remote Control Mode. The most common mode used is the Web Cam Mode and includes:

• Automatic shifting of programmed positions
• Capture, storage and labeling of images at programmed intervals
• Upload on ftp site
• Creates panoramic and successive uploads
• Preparation of slides of surrent images
• Economical use of the hard disk using compresison of the stored images
• Maintainance of stored images on a web site

The Web Cam Mode is programmed using the scheduler as explained above, and when a user logs in the system remotely, the VM95 stops automatically and starts again from the same point when the user disconnects.
