The Stations
The video-monitoring stations manufactured by SVM srl consist in an assembly of modular hardware systems and subsystems known as "biscuit", and are run with our own software VM95 and VMVIEW and by one or more data acquisition sensors (cameras, video cameras, metereological sensors, etc.. depending on the requirements). The stations can be placed externally even in very hostile environemets, they can be the mains or by solar panels and installed on posts or other external supports. Thanks to the selection of the hardware and software, the system is open to possible future innovations in the acquisition and trasmission of images. The images and data acuired by the station are stored on the hard disk of the "Biscuit" and are eventually processed; therefore it is possible to send automatically to a server or download from a remote location. With the SVM software, it is possible to have direct connection with the station in order to receive live images, download images and stored data, act with the motion motor so as to archive precise aim, and very the controls on the video cameras (zoom, contrast, exposure, etc) . The stations can be connected to a server by standard telephone lines, intranet, GSM/GPRS, satellite, radio, waves etc... enabling the creation of the system and networks able to respond to differen needs. The SVM systems exalts the performances of the most modern camera/video camera due to its ability of direct interface with the software within them, made possible by the VM95. This peculiarity allows to program and control remotely any functions of the video-camera even in extreme light conditions. Thanks to the VM95 it is also possible to elaborate digital images so as to create a gallery of images forscientific, advertising, commercial and security purposes.

Characteristics of acquisition system
The image acquisition system is an hardware (Biscuit) and software (VM95) assemblywith the following characteristics:
Pc integrated model Biscuit with operating system
Automatically constructs films in mpeg, sends via internet or any other server the required iamges for dayly or weekly viewing
It record, stores and constructs metereological graphs (if a compatible metereological station is available) and loads in real time on the internet.
It gathers images and analog data: is a compatible with 4 digital cameras and high resolutions up to 8 analog input channels (8 digitalized analog channels at 16 bit) + 4 Video camera, 3 on composite signal and 1 on SVHS.
It supports for data transmission: cellular phones, DSL, ISDN and pots lines: it can upload data to 4 differen Internet Service Providers and send files via ftp to up 10 different sites.
Programmable and re-programmable using network, direct telephone line connection or by internet and FTP.
Integrated network board and modem.
Sampling interval: from few seconds to 25 hours, images for various days of the week, on and off the system at programmed intervals, over 80 programmable different prospectives (with the Pan/tilt system).
Construction of composite images, media images, their correction and inversion, automatic creation of thumbnails, and composing of html pages.
Controls the Pan/tilt motor even from a remote site (using VMView).
It stores 50.000 quality images of 10 GigaByte and one can surf at high speed on the internet and can manage up to 1 million images.
Programmable tasks: size and compression (JPEG) of the images, contrast, stauration, superimposed graphs and text onto the images (any font, any size, any color) and dimensions of the thumbnails.
Night filming: over 60 seconds of exposure for hte images with very low light.selectable exposure for a speciic part of the image (zone of interest). This function is only possible with a camera.
It is able to automatically construct web pages on which it positions personalized images: color of the home pages and short text, logo and address of the home page etc...
Integrated system with microcontroller on/off switch for PC (Biscuit), records an image, downloads it onto Internet or a server which can be chosen by a cell phone and can switch off until new images samples are required. (Used mainly on standalone system with solar panel power supply to save energy.)
Creation of log files: This program, when operating, records all the tasks on a series of files. It can obtain a graph of the mainn funcitons (the time spent connected to the telephone lines, the results of ftp uploads, average time of connections, type of functions used etc..) this graph can be available on web pages.
Possibility of connections in real time via the telephone network to PSTN, ISDN, GSM or the net using the VMView Software remotely.
